She has another one of the amount of times Yosef referred to his father as eved - that one needs to multiply it as it was through a translator. This appears in the introduction to her husband's sefer Shu"t Zikrhon Yosef.

Also I should have explained that Maimon has a bunch of smart statements attributed to various famous wives (for lack of a better description) and most have no basis in fact. In the case of Kridel, there is evidence to back up the claim.

Thanks for commenting! The D'var Torah you mentioned is cited in the article I linked to (hyperlinked Ka'an).

Have you seen S. Mirsky's review of Maimon in Talpiot? I think Maimon is going by oral traditions (as he often writes in Sarei - he used to interview all the older inhabitants of any village for village lore on famous Rabbis). So I wouldn't discount him off hand.

Regarding Dan's first comment: this Vort is commonly attributed to Gra. טללי אורות (to Bereishis 42:23) cites it in his name, but provides no further information. פנינים משולחן הגר"א (on the same verse) also does, and sources it thus:

תורת יצחק עה"ת, לרבי יצחק מרינהולץ, ורש"א תרס"א אחרי מותו: שמעתי זאת בשם הגר"א ז"ל

I know nothing about the work תורת יצחק or its author, and my library doesn't seem to have it.
