כך דרכה של תורה

Hebrewbooks.org has added some important new Seforim. This is one of the most important. I will try to update with some more info later.

They also have the original Leipzig edition of Zechariah Frankel's Darkhei HaMishna, although it is best to see the Warsaw edition as well as there are important additions there.

Also of interest is a response by Mordechai Weissman Chajes to Chaim Zelig Slominsky, containing important treatise re: the dateline. Mondshine's biography of Kamehler is also worth examining.

These are only some of the important Seforim added too Hebrewbooks.org. I will try to update this post significantly later today.

  1. The Warsaw edition also have the additional התנצלות המחבר at the end which addresses some of the attacks on his religious integrity.

  3. The HebrewBooks.org guys are incredible! I feel like a kid in a candy store.

Wolf's post inspired me to peruse the list for myself; I noticed the following valuable and not that readily available works:

    R. Leon Modena's ארי נוהם
    R. Y. Y. Algazi's ארעא דרבנן
    R. M. Narboni's ביאור לספר מורה נבוכים
    R. Y. Bedarsi's בחינת עולם (and several other editions of it, too)
    R. A. Figo's בינה לעתים
    R. Y. Bedarsi's בקשת הלמדין
    R. Z. H. Kalisher's דרישת ציון
    R. Y. Canpanton's דרכי הגמרא

I know that all these are available in good libraries, but still ...

  4. >I know that all these are available in good libraries, but still ...

And unless you work in one, are still in school with such a good library, or live five minutes from one, what will that do for you?

I love libraries, don't get me wrong, but hbooks is something special.

Hopefully there won't be a backlash against the haskalah works.

  5. As someone who is in one of the greatest Judaica libraries in the world a few days a week, I can testify that books are not always available when you want to use them and sometimes the hassle of actually getting to look at a book is no small matter.

  7. Prof. Marc said in his lat lecture tht they might split the database between Haskalah and regular - but its always wise to download stuff just in case.

  9. I'm surprised that none of the maskilim from asra kadisha hodain noted that mordechai plongian's sefer Ohr Boker is on the list. Plongianis the author of the Miluim on Yoreh Deah.

  10. He sad he heard from the donor of hebrewbooks.

I found some really cool letters from Plungian (who also wrote the bio of Menassah M Ilya that I discuss in a different post). Stay tune!
